Comedian Theo Von recently shared a heartfelt tribute for a retiring UFC veteran, Anthony Smith.
Known for his journey from reality TV and an MTV Challenge win, Von has established himself as a major figure in stand-up comedy.
The popular comedian, aged 45, is widely regarded as exceptionally funny, even making Joe Rogan laugh uncontrollably during a past conversation.
Although primarily known for his humor, Von showed a more sensitive side after one of his favorite fighters concluded his long MMA career in the octagon.
Theo Von Honors Anthony Smith with Emotional Social Media Post
At UFC Kansas City on Saturday night, Anthony Smith faced Mingyang Zhang before a lively crowd. Unfortunately, the fight didn`t unfold as Smith had hoped.
Zhang quickly asserted dominance, landing sharp strikes and eventually opening a cut on Smith`s forehead with a powerful elbow.
Bleeding significantly, the American fighter bravely continued, attempting to land his own heavy shots. However, he was clearly in distress, desperately shooting for a takedown which Zhang defended before finishing the fight with ground and pound elbows.
Following the fight, `Lionheart` left his gloves in the center of the cage, signaling the end of his impressive career, a career Theo Von greatly enjoyed following.
Sharing a touching message on social media, Von wrote: “He was the first UFC fighter I ever met. He waited for me after my show nine years ago just to say kind and supportive things. That`s just who he is. He`s a truly unique person, and I`m grateful I got to be a fan and cheer him on. These guys are warriors. Thank you @lionheartasmith for letting us witness your journey.”
