Tony Ferguson Comments on Israel Adesanya’s Grueling David Goggins Session

It seems Tony Ferguson is one of the few other MMA fighters who can truly relate to what Israel Adesanya went through recently.

The former two-time UFC middleweight champion was seen vomiting into a trash can after a demanding training session with renowned fitness personality, ex-Navy Seal, and endurance athlete David Goggins.

Ferguson himself underwent Goggins` intense `Hell Week` program leading up to his fight against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 296 in December 2023.

While `El Cucuy` completed the brutal regimen, designed to test aspiring Navy Seals, he also experienced vomiting, much like Israel Adesanya during his day with Goggins.

Ferguson Reflects on His Own Goggins Experience

Last week, Tony Ferguson posted footage on Instagram showing him skipping in a boxing gym.

During the workout, the former UFC interim lightweight champion brought up Adesanya and Goggins` training, jokingly downplaying his own `Hell Week` as effortless.

“You see Goggins coaching Izzy? He has him puking, too,” Ferguson remarked to someone nearby. “Oh yeah. It`s good man. I think every fighter should go through that s—. Maybe not a whole week. But damn, at least a session.” He then added about his own time, “By the way, that week with Chief Goggins, light-work, coach, light work.”

What`s Next for Tony Ferguson?

Tony Ferguson has not competed since August 2024, when he suffered his eighth consecutive loss under the UFC banner.

A defeat via rear-naked choke to Michael Chiesa marked the end of Ferguson`s 13-year tenure with the top MMA promotion.

Following his departure from the UFC, the American fighter signed with GFL with plans to face Dillon Danis.

However, in April, GFL canceled its initial two events, leaving the status of the Ferguson vs. Danis bout uncertain.

Although both fighters claimed the fight was still on when the cancellations occurred, over a month later, there has been no further information regarding the date or location of their potential matchup.
