Tottenham vs. Manchester United Predicted Lineups and Team News for Europa League Final

Tottenham Hotspur is set to meet Manchester United in the climax of the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League season. This final match, taking place on Wednesday at San Mames in Bilbao, presents the two English clubs with their final opportunity to secure qualification for the Champions League. Tottenham is seeking their first European title since 1984 and their first major trophy since the 2008 League Cup. Manchester United, on the other hand, aims to replicate their 2017 success in what will be the second all-English Europa League final. Both sides are reportedly managing injury concerns, as noted by managers Ange Postecoglou and Ruben Amorim in the lead-up to the final.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou emphasized the significance of the match, stating, “It is a great prize. You know the significance of Champions League qualification and what comes with it. You get to play against the best on the continent. But the club has been in the Champions League before, they have not won a trophy for a long time – so that is the most important thing.”

Heung-Min Son, Tottenham`s captain, returned to the squad last week and made his first start in several weeks over the weekend. He is expected to be in the starting lineup against Manchester United. Postecoglou highlighted Son`s value: “He is so important to the group. He is so important as a leader and he is such an important figure at this football club. It would be great to cap his career off with a trophy for him.”

On the injury front for Tottenham, midfielder Lucas Bergvall is unavailable. Pape Matar Sarr, however, is fit, having recovered from a back problem sustained last Friday against Aston Villa. James Maddison is also ruled out. Several players are ineligible for the final, including Antonin Kinsky, Fraser Forster, Timo Werner, and former Manchester United player Sergio Reguilon. Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin, and Dane Scarlett are also on the injury list and will miss the final.

For Manchester United, manager Ruben Amorim expressed surprise at the recovery of Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee, noting, “So they recover quite well. They push, of course, and we have to respect the feeling of the player but we push a little bit, as they wanted to be part of the team. That is a very good sign. Very good for us. Of course, they are limited in the minutes for the game but they can help us win the game”.
