The third Noche UFC event will no longer be the first to take place on Mexican territory as initially planned.
Following previous Noche UFC celebrations of Mexican Independence Day in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena and the Sphere, the 2025 edition was announced for Guadalajara, Mexico.
Initial concerns about the UFC card potentially competing head-to-head with the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford boxing match on September 13th were later overshadowed by worries regarding whether the planned Arena Guadalajara venue would actually be completed in time to host the event.
Ultimately, construction delays for the arena have forced a significant change in plans.
During Saturday`s UFC Vegas 107 broadcast, the promotion revealed that Noche UFC will now be held in San Antonio, Texas, and importantly, will no longer be the UFC 320 pay-per-view event.
Many fans and observers see this alteration as a considerable positive development.
Fans Express Relief as Noche UFC Status Change Impacts Potential Alexander Volkanovski vs Yair Rodriguez Rematch
Before the necessary decision to change the event`s location and status was announced at UFC Vegas 107, speculation surrounding the potential September 13th pay-per-view main event had already generated considerable negative reaction.
With limited high-profile Mexican fighters available to headline, reports suggested the UFC was considering booking Alexander Volkanovski vs. Yair Rodriguez 2 as the main event, potentially granting `El Pantera` an unexpected second shot at the title.
However, given that Rodriguez had compiled a 1-1 record since his dominant loss to the Australian featherweight champion in 2023, many fans and analysts widely considered him undeserving of an immediate rematch.
Therefore, many were openly celebrating the news that Noche UFC would be downgraded from a pay-per-view event to a standard UFC Fight Night, concluding that the highly criticized Volkanovski vs. Rodriguez 2 bout is now unlikely to happen.
Thank goodness. That fight never made sense.
So no Yair, right? Right?
Now give us an actual good main event instead of Volk vs Yair.
Ok so no need for Volk vs Yair anymore, right?
Now can we please scrap this Volk vs Rodriguez 2?
Let’s not do Volk vs Yair now please.
Please scrap that bogus Yair rematch and we’re cooking.
In light of the change, other fans proposed alternative opponents for Yair Rodriguez for the San Antonio Fight Night, alongside renewing calls for a long-awaited championship opportunity for undefeated contender Movsar Evloev against Volkanovski.
They can put Yair vs Diego [Lopes] as main event now.
Lopes vs Yair incoming…
Yair or Jean Silva vs Lopes as the main event.
Fight night so can we get Diego vs Yair
Do the right thing and make this Yair vs Diego and give [Movsar] Evloev the title shot.
Now make Movsar vs Volk.
Movsar Evloev Accepted Another Fight After Being Passed Over for Title Shot
Movsar Evloev, who has seemingly struggled to build momentum with the UFC`s higher-ups despite his in-cage success, appears set to face yet another non-title challenger.
The Russian fighter boasts an impressive 9-0 record inside the Octagon, with recent victories over notable opponents including former champion Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, and Diego Lopes. While such a flawless run usually positions a fighter for a title shot, Evloev has consistently been overlooked by UFC President Dana White.
The 31-year-old competitor recently revealed his latest title snub in a post on social media, announcing that he has agreed to a different bout scheduled for UFC Abu Dhabi on July 26th.
If you are a UFC fighter and believe you are the best in the world, then you have [to] fight every fight they throw at you, no risk no reward,” Evloev wrote. “See you guys in July, it’s ON. #UFCAbuDhabi
According to sources familiar with the situation, the fight Evloev accepted is expected to be a five-round co-main event clash against UFC newcomer Aaron Pico.
It remains uncertain whether a tenth consecutive victory under the UFC banner will finally prove sufficient for Movsar Evloev to earn his long-awaited opportunity to challenge for a championship.
