Following Emma Hayes` announcement of the senior team roster for April friendlies against Brazil, a U23 roster has been revealed for a training camp held concurrently. Hayes has emphasized the importance of revitalizing the U.S. Soccer`s U23 program.
A `Futures Camp` in January marked the program`s restart, bringing together age-eligible players in Florida. Several participants from this event were later included in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup and the April roster for Brazil friendlies.
Lisa Cole, lead WNT player pathway scout, will oversee the U23 camps, with Hayes and her staff observing training sessions. The U23 coaching team includes Heather Dyche (University of New Mexico), Yolanda Thomas (Orlando Pride), and Louis Hunt (goalkeeper coach).
Cole stated, `Emma has consistently stressed the need to focus on this age group, offering young professionals and top college players more national team opportunities and chances to compete with and against each other.`
`Having both U-23 and senior team camps at the same location simultaneously allows both coaching staffs to assess players, providing everyone with a firsthand understanding of the demands of international level performance. This is a valuable opportunity for both players and coaches.`
Several U23 players are already professional athletes. Eva Gaetino (Paris Saint-Germain) rejoins the squad with Gisele Thompson (Angel City FC) and Savy King (Angel City FC) in defense. Forwards Reilyn Turner (Portland Thorns FC), Jameese Joseph (Chicago Stars FC), and Sarah Schupansky (Gotham FC) are all coming off recent starts with their NWSL clubs.
